Warning Over 4mA tDCS Devices

URGENT HEALTH & SAFETY CONCERNS

Total tDCS is publishing this announcement in response to the recent manufacture and public sale of “4mA tDCS devices” most notably by the companies Apex and Foc.us .

There is insufficient evidence proving the safety & efficacy of tDCS current levels above 2mA!

Research into the safety and efficacy of current levels above 2mA. is extremely limited, making up less than 5% of the total research conducted on tDCS. In addition, the studies we’ve reviewed do not provide credible evidence supporting high current tDCS. We urge tDCS users to stick with tDCS devices that conform to the standard maximum current output of 2 milliamps (2mA).

Please take note that the very companies selling these devices provide no evidence of the safety or efficacy of 4mA current levels! They are using you as an experiment. This is completely unethical, dangerous, and unacceptable. We urge tDCS users to stick with tDCS devices that conform to the standard maximum current output of 2 milliamps (2mA).

Experimenting with higher current levels is to be done in the laboratory, not at home on your body.

PUBLIC SAFETY WARNING

Total tDCS is posting this notice to inform the public of the potential dangers of 4mA tDCS devices.

There is insufficient evidence supporting the
safety and efficacy of current levels above 2mA!

Research into high-current Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation is extremely limited. Companies marketing 4mA tDCS device do not provide any proof of its safety. We urge tDCS users to stick with devices that conform to the standard maximum current output of 2mA.

Experimenting with high current levels is for the laboratory,
not at home on your body

PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY WARNING

Total tDCS is publishing this announcement  in response to the recent manufacture and public sale of 4mA tDCS devices. These devices pose significant safety risks and should be avoided at all costs.

There is insufficient evidence supporting the safety of tDCS current levels above 2mA.

Please note that the companies currently selling 4mA tDCS devices provide no research to support the safety and efficacy of their product.

Clinical research into high current tDCS is very limited. The few published studies available are preliminary and often biased in nature.

extremely limited. making up less than 5% of the total research conducted on tDCS. The studies we’ve reviewed thus far do not provide credible evidence supporting high current tDCS. We urge tDCS users to stick with tDCS devices that conform to the Internationally recognized maximum current output of 2mA.

Experimenting with higher current levels is to be done in the laboratory,

URGENT HEALTH & SAFETY CONCERNS

Total tDCS is posting this Public Service Announcement in response to the recent manufacture and public sale of “4mA” tDCS devices.

There is insufficient evidence proving the safety & efficacy of tDCS current levels above 2mA.

Research into the safety and efficacy of tDCS current levels above 2mA is extremely limited. So far we have only identified five studies, all of them preliminary and three of them including conflicts of interest significantly lowering their credibility.

We urge tDCS users to stick with tDCS devices that conform to the standard maximum current output of 2 milliamps (2mA).

Please take note that the very companies selling these devices provide no evidence of the safety or efficacy of high current levels. They are using you as their test subject. This is completely unethical, dangerous, and unacceptable. We urge tDCS users to stick with tDCS devices that conform to the standard maximum current output of 2 milliamps (2mA).

Experimenting with higher current levels is to be done in the laboratory, not at home on your body.
